Bad Boys Spin-off Starring Gabrielle Union Heads To NBC

For years now, fans of the Bad Boys films starring Martin Lawrence & Will Smith have waited around to hear confirmation about the third Bad Boys film going into production. Lawerence announced that the film was going to be made, but they were waiting for Smith to step up & make his announcement.

The last time we saw the two together was in 2003’s Bad Boys sequel which brought in Gabrielle Union to play Marcus’s (Martin Lawrence) younger sister Sydney Burnett. Well, it looks like while Bad Boys 3 is in development hell, NBC has plans to create a spin-off centered on Union’s character. The network ordered a pilot episode for the spin-off

The story is described as follows:

Burnett (Union) has left the DEA and now has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna, a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy. These two have totally different lifestyles and approaches, but they both are at the top of their fields in this action-packed, character-driven procedural.

Blacklist writters Brandon Margolis & Brandon Sonnier will pencil the script. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced both Bad Boys movies, & Doug Belgrad will executive produce the series with Jonathan Littman &  KristieAnne Reed.
