Last month, Universal Pictures announced a June 11th 2021 release date for Jurassic World 3 before the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom this summer.
Today, EW.com released an article with Steven Spielberg stating Jurassic World and Safety not guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow will return to the director’s chair for the 3rd film in the franchise reboot.
“Colin Trevorrow is going write and direct the third Jurassic World story.”
said Spielberg, who also serves as an executive producer for the upcoming Fallen Kingdom.
Writer Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising) will collaborate with Trevorrow on the script. Trevorrow will also have a hand in story building with co writer Derek Connolly.
This will be Trevorrow’s first project after Lucasfilm passed on him to direct Star Wars episode 9 and replaced him with J.J. Abrams.
Jurassic World earned $1.67 billion in the world wide box office, currently holding the 4th place in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time.
