Disney’s Mulan Is Heading To Disney+

Hollywood has pushed back a lot of their major lineups due to the pandemic. Even with theaters slowly opening back up in certain states, moviegoers will be met by films that are re-released to keep money circulating in cinemas that are opening. Disney’s Mulan was one film that fans of the 1998 animated film were looking forward to seeing this year & it was looking as though the film would be pushed back to a 2021 release, but Disney’s not backing down,

It was announced today that Disney’s Mulan live-action film will be heading to Disney+ next month. However, if subscribers of Disney+ would like to see the film, they will have to pay a premium price of $29.99 on September 4th, which is a punch to the gut for cinemas expecting to pull moviegoers into theaters.

Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Chapek had this to say:

“Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we’ve continued to build on the incredible success of Disney+ as we grow our global direct-to-consumer businesses. The global reach of our full portfolio of direct-to-consumer services now exceeds an astounding 100 million paid subscriptions — a significant milestone and a reaffirmation of our DTC strategy, which we view as key to the future growth of our company.”

The good news is that countries that aren’t able to access Disney+ will still be able to see the film in theaters but the date is undisclosed.
