Final Fantasy VII Remake Undergoes Changes

We got some bad news last week when it was revealed that the Final Fantasy VII remake & Kingdom Hearts III would not be heading to us any time soon. Square Enix said that both games will be heading to is within the next 3 years, which rubbed fans of both games the wrong way. However, are some change-ups going on at Square Enix that could be the source of the wait.

It was announced today that Haoki Hamguchi, main programmer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, has taken over as lead developer on the Final Fantasy VII remake at Square Enix.

Hamguchi had this to say:

“I’ve taken charge on the development side for Final Fantasy VII Remake. As for the whole story, (it’s a sensitive topic, but) until now, development was moving forward with external cooperation, but the company has decided to shift to an internal setup, including mass production and quality, because we want to control everything, including quality, on a stable schedule. (I won’t be leaving Mobius Final Fantasy.)”

This might seem like a minor change to some, but we at least know that the remake is in solid hands. Final Fantasy VII is still floating around without a release date. All we can do now is wait & see if they’ll tease us with something at this year’so E3.
