Gladiator Sequel in the Works at Paramount Pictures

DreamWorks Gladiator film was one of those films that is arguably a masterpiece. The cast, the story the music by Hans Zimmer all touched the hearts of moviegoers. The climax of the film was not only emotional but also powerful & some thought that a sequel would emerge not too soon after that would star Djimon Hounsou Juba, but we. Ever saw that come to fruition .

Well, 18 years later, Paramount Pictures confirms that a sequel of Gladiator is moving forward with Ridley Scott still attached & Peter Craig locked down to write the script. Scott Free is also locked in to produce the film with Doug Wick, Lucy Fisher, Walter Parkes, & Laurie MacDonald.

According to Deadline, the story will follow:

Lucius the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), The youth was the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the weaselly son of Roman leader Marcus Aurelius who murdered his father seized the throne and wound up in the gladiator ring with Maximus, who though mortally wounded, skewered the emperor before fading into the great beyond to reunite with his slain wife and son. Maximus saved the boy and his mother while avenging his own family, and left a strong impression on the young Lucius.

No release date has been revealed.
