HBO Max Closed The Door On JJ Abrams’ The Shining Spinoff

HBO Max has become the hotspot for box office hits like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Suicide Squad & Dune, to name a few. With a line of solid projects making their way to the streaming service in the coming years, we sadly won’t see get to see JJ Abrams’ ‘The Overlook’ which was a spin-off to Stephen King’s The Shining.

HBO decided to pass on the series to focus more on Abrams’ upcoming projects like Justice League Dark which has already birthed side projects like Constantine & Lady Xanadu, his project Duster which will stars Josh Holloway & Demimonde. Nothing major was revealed about The Overlook, but we do know that it was centered on the terrifying hotel from King’s 1977 novel The Shining.

Even though HBO Max passed on Abrams’ The Overlook, this doesn’t mean that other streaming services like Hulu & Netflix won’t come knocking.
