Hellboy Gets R-rated Remake With Neil Marshall At The Helm; David Harbour Eyed To Play Hellboy

It was only a few weeks ago that Guillermo del Toro shocked fans by announcing that the future of Hellboy 3 wold no longer become a reality. Besides del Toro pushing for a bigger budget that the studio didn’t see as a good investment, he has his hands tied with a few projects that would take up his time. But all is not lost, fans!

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola took to Facebook & announced that a Hellboy reboot was in the works & that it would be R-rated! Larry Gordon & Lloyd Levin are currently in talks to produce & David Harbour (Stranger Things) is being courted to play Hellboy!

Sadly, this means that Ron Perlman, who played Hellboy in the 2004 Hellboy film & its 2008 sequel Hellboy: The Golden Army will not be returning to the big screen as Big Red. Had the third film moved forward, it would’ve starred Ron Perlman, Doug Jones, Seth McFarlane, Selma Blair & Jeffrey Tambor. In the planned sequel for the film, it was planned that Hellboy will live his normal life as a father for his two newborn twins from Liz Sherman but has to face against an extremely powerful enemy who wishes to bring the darkness upon Earth and rule it.

Hellboy was created in 1993 by Mignola and became an indie comic hit as it told of a demon raised by a professor, working to fight supernatural evildoers for an organization called Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
