TODD

The story of Spawn follows CIA Operative Al Simmons, who is double crossed and killed by his superiors. As his soul is sent to Hell, Al bargains with the demon Malebolgia to see his wife again in exchange for his service to lead an army of Hellspawn to take over earth. Spawn finds himself in the middle of an impending war between Heaven and Hell.

Spawn first appeared in comics in May 1992 via Image Comics. An animated series aired on HBO for 3 seasons between 1997 to 1999 for an 18 episode run. And a feature length film starring Michael Jai White released in 1997, earning only $87.8 million in the box office.

MacFarlane stated in previous interviews that his vision for the reboot of Spawn would see the character be more of a ghost like entity in the background rather than a physically force. Casting Foxx may have changed that as this caliber of actor just begs for Spawn to be more than that. With horror juggernaut Blumhouse Productions behind the project, we maybe in for a hell of a ride.

We will follow up with more news once it becomes available.
