Kelvin Harrison Jr. & Aaron Pierre Join Disney’s Prequel To 2019’s ‘The Lion King’

Disney’s 2019 live-action The Lion King roared onto the screen & took new moviegoers on a journey that some would say was on par with the 1994 animated film. Disney announced that they are doing a follow-up to the 2019 film, but it will be a prequel this time!

It was revealed today that The Lion King prequel is going into production & that Kelvin Harrison Jr. (The Trial Of The Chicago 7) will voice Mufasa & Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad) will voice Taka aka Scar. Barry Jerkins will direct while Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the 2019 film, is back on board.

As for the music, we’ll be blessed again by Hans Zimmer, Pharrell, & Succession’s Nicholas Britell. No release date has been announced, but I am glad to see that they are going for a prequel rather than a live-action take on the animated sequel.
