More Pokemon Hitting the Switch and 3DS

Yesterday Nintendo announced a new 8 minute long Pokemon Direct. What could this be? Fans speculated Pokken or Pokemon Stars. Pokemon Stars was the dream for die hard fans who wanted to see a mainline Pokemon game with upgraded graphics on the Switch. Sadly for some, it looks like they only got half of what they wanted. Pokken Tournament DX was right on the nose, and is coming out for the Switch. The other reveal is Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon hitting the 3DS.

Pokken Tournament first released for the Wii U in 2016 and sold over a million copies. Pokken Tournament DX will build on that success with a ton of Switch specific features. The trailer shows all the different ways you can travel and play with anyone you meet via the JoyCon. You can have local wireless multiplayer, single Joy Con play, and friend-only group matches. There will also be 3v3 team battles as well as online ranked play. In addition, there will be 5 new Pokemon: Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk and Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Decidueye. Fans will get a chance to see this all in real time action during E3. Nintendo will have a Pokken DX Tournament invitational featuring YouTube and Twitch players on June 14.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are basically upgraded versions of Pokemon Sun and Moon. The new games will each offer an alternative story set in the world of Sun and Moon. Set in Alola, there will be new Pokemon not introduced in the original series and new versions of legendary Pokemon Solgaleo and Lunala. Not many other details are out yet, but we have a lot of time between now and release so expect meatier details in the months ahead, and if you want to get a head start on preparing for the game you can try out the Pokemon diamond nds rom options floating around. For a brief look at this game skip to 3:00 on the trailer.

Pokken Tournament DX drops for the Switch on September 22,2017. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon drop for the 3DS on November 17, 2017.
