Netflix’s ‘Bright’ Trailer Released

Fresh out of San Diego Comic Con is an interesting new movie from Netflix. Combine the star power of Will Smith with Suicide Squad director Dayid Ayer and – wait for it-  orcs, elves, and fairies, and you get Bright.

On  Thursday, Netflix (in its first ever SDCC Hall H panel) granted the fans a sneak peek at its upcoming project during a panel with Smith, Ayers, and Joel Edgerton. Smith describes Bright as taking place  in a “bizarre world.” It’s a “crazy mashup of the grit and that hard rated R grime of Training Day but then smashed with Lord of the Rings.”

According to the official Netflix synopsis here’s what we can expect:

Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. ‘Bright’ is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward and Jakoby embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.

Smith plays Ward, a racist cop dealing with his new diversity hire partner Jakoby, an Orc.  Joel Edgerton plays Jakoby, the first Orc on the force.  This is Netflix’s biggest and most expensive movie to date, costing at least $90 million.

Bright releases on December 22, 2017.
