New Dragon Ball FighterZ Trailer Reveals Hit, Goku Black & Beerus

With Dragon Ball FighterZ hitting consoles in little over a month, Bandai Namco released a new trailer that shows off some major battles from Dragon Ball Z & some new stages & characters to the game. Check out the trailer below.

After the success of the Xenoverse series, it’s time to introduce a new classic 2D DRAGON BALL fighting game for this generation’s consoles.
DRAGON BALL FighterZ is born from what makes the DRAGON BALL series so loved and famous: endless spectacular fights with it’s all powerful
fighters. Partnering with Arc System Works, DRAGON BALL FighterZ maximizes high-end Anime graphics and brings easy to learn but difficult to master fighting gameplay to audiences worldwide.

Goku and his friends must fight a new battle against a revived Android 16 and an army of super androids designed to resemble and fight just like them. The story is split into three chapters: the Super Warriors Arc, the Super Villain Arc, and the Android Arc, each of which follows the story from the perspectives of Goku, Frieza, and Android 18 respectively.

The gameplay borrows concepts from several other fighting games, primarily the Marvel vs. Capcom series’ control scheme and team mechanics. Players each select three characters to form a team. One character is controlled, and can be switched with one of the other characters at any time. Players can also call one of their other characters to perform an “Assist” move, allowing simultaneous attacks and combos with the entire team. All three of the opponent’s characters must be defeated to win the game.

The universal “Vanish” and “Dragon Rush” moves resemble the Roman Cancel system commonly found in Arc System Works games and Guilty Gear Xrd’s Dust attacks respectively, while the “Super Dash” move resembles the Homing system of Arcana Heart. Players can also “Ki Charge” to manually increase their super meter, similar to previous Dragon Ball fighting games.

In addition, as the fight progresses, players gather the Dragon Balls one by one. So far there is not much information on the conditions for attaining them, but once all seven are assembled by a player, Shenron appears to grant a wish, and allows players to choose one among the following benefits: increasing their fighter’s strength, revive a fallen ally, recover a fighter’s health or increase resistance to damage.
