Sicario: Day of the Soldado trailer amps up the action

Sony Pictures released a new trailer and updated film title for Sicario: Day of the Soldado, The sequel to 2015’s Sicario. The film was known as both Sicario 2 and Soldado: Sicario 2 before the change.

Benecio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Donovan, Isabela Moner, Matthew Modine and Catherine Kenner star with Italian filmmaker Stefano Sollima at the helm replacing Denis Villaneuve.

Here is a quick synopsis for the film.

FBI agent Matt Graver teams up with operative Alejandro Gillick to prevent Mexican drug cartels from smuggling terrorists across the U.S. border.

This trailer shows that we maybe in for way more action this time around. Also to note, original Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan returns to write this film. Sheridan has earned high praised for his writing the past couple of years, constructing 2016’s Hell or High Water and 2017’s Wind River.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado comes to theaters June 29th.
