Yes!! I don’t know if any of you are excited for this news as much as I am, but Sony’s ‘Venom’ spin off starring Tom Hardy is slated to begin filming this September. Though there are no real plot details just yet, we do know that two shooting locations will be NYC and Atlanta. For those that still have the bad taste left in your mouth’s from the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ films, I truly believe that those fears can be put to rest.
I feel that Tom Hardy is a strong casting for Eddie Brock. He has a solid role history, most notably his portrayals of Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ , Max in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, and Yves in ‘Inception’. Although we don’t know exactly how he will portray Peter Parker’s rival journalist/most iconic villain, but could it be any worse than ‘That 70’s Show’s’ Topher Grace? I mean really, that and Emo Peter Parker were some the lowest points of the film franchise to date and they both occurred in the same film. Don’t even get me started on the musical aspect of Spider-Man 3.
