Streets of Rage Is Heading to The Big Screen with John Wick Writer

Sega brought Sonic to the big screen & the blue hedgehog has sped his way into the hearts of millions with his two films, so it should be no surprise that another heavy hitter from Sega’s library of games is being pulled to the big screen. Deadline announced today that Streets of Rage will be heading to the big screen with John Wick writer & creator Derek Kolstad attached to write the script.

Sonic producer dj2 entertainment & Escape Artists (Equalizer films) will produce the film.  No release date has been revealed.

Streets of Rage was birthed on the Sega Genesis in 1991. Streets of Rage is a side-scrolling, beat ’em up video game series centering on the efforts of several ex-police vigilantes trying to rid a fictional, large American city from a crime syndicate that has corrupted its local government. The first three games in the franchise were developed and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis in the early 1990s /& have since been ported and re-released on various platforms. A fourth entry was rele6ased in 2020 on  Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, macOS, & Linux.
