Super Mario Bros. Movie In The Works At Illumination Entertainment

It was announced today that Universal Pictures is looking to bring Nintendo‘s biggest IP to the big screen again. Yes, Mario & Luigi are hitting the big screen again, but we’re getting them in an animated format this time around! Nintendo & Illumination have been in negotiations to bring this to the big screen for over a year & it looks like the negotiations have worked out in Universal’s favor.

It was said that Shigeru Miyamoto  to be a producer & have control creative development & will be joined by Illumination’s CEO Chris Meledandri. The film will be animated at Illumination’s Paris-based studio Mac Guff. According to The Wall Street Journal, the film wouldn’t be released anytime soon.

The first Mario Bros. movie that started Bob Hopskins & John Leguizamo came out in 1993. The film wasn’t met with much high reviews, but it’s still a cult classic amongst fans
