Warner Bros releases trailer and poster for The Meg

Warner Bros. has released our first look at the long in development monster movie The Meg. The film is an adaptation of the novel Meg: A novel of deep terror released in 1997 by Steve Alten.

The synopsis for Meg is here:

A deep-sea submersible is attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer to save the crew from this prehistoric threat.

Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Winston Chao, Cliff Curtis, Jessica McNamee, Robert Taylor, Ruby Rose and Rainn Wilson star with Jon Turtleaub directing.

A poster also accompanied the arrival of the first trailer.

With other larger than life monster movies such as Rampage and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom coming out before it, The Meg has a tough road ahead to be king of monster movies this year.

The Meg will be in theaters August 10th. You can also see it in Real D 3D and IMAX 3D.
