Sony Pictures Finds Director For Uncharted Movie

With a number of video game shifting from the consoles to the big screen, one has remained on the minds & view of fans – Sony’s Uncharted. There were rumors circulating that actors from Mark Wahlberg to Robert DeNiro were being looked at to star in the film, but with those rumors being put to rest & Sony injecting some life back into the film, fans can start getting excited for what Sony has in store.

Although no actors have been confirmed for the film, Sony Pictures has brought Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Reel Steel) to helm the film & Joe Carnahan will write the script. The film was locked in for a June 30, 2017 release date, but it has since been removed from Sony’s 2017 lineup.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series is beloved among PlayStation owners. Whether the story will follow Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune or not is still unclear. The story for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is as follow:

A 400-year-old clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets a modern-day fortune hunter on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The search turns deadly when Nathan Drake becomes stranded on the island and hunted by mercenaries. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as they begin to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the Island.
