Sean Marshall Peacemaker’s Chukwudi Iwuji has been in the minds of fans of the MCU ever since he was announced to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. James Gunn & Iwuji are being very quiet on just who Iwuji is playing, but he is continuing to throw some welcomed teases at us that are sure to keep fans theorizing just who he’s going to be playing.
Iwuji spoke with Variety about his role in Peacemaker & gave us some additional information on his character in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
When asked how is it different working with Gunn on Peacemaker to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Iwuji said: “The production is so big. James and I, we’re picking up where we left off. [The character] is very different from Murn. It requires different stuff from me. The way James works with me is pretty much the same, which is he trusts my choices — but at the same time, when I give him a choice, he’s ready to push it further. He’s making me push myself. This character needs an extremism that I didn’t need to really tap into in “Peacemaker” that I’m tapping into here. Our relationship remains the same, one of enjoyment, mutual love and trust.“
Variety asked Iwuji who he’s going to be sharing the screen with & he added: “I can’t say who I’m opposite the most, but I will say that I interact with everyone. I’ll give you that nugget. I get to share the love.“
Some fans say that all fingers point to Iwuji playing the High Evolutionary due to him telling The Hollywood Reporter that the character he’s playing is: “Extremely powerful. Complex. James and I were talking about it, but he’s certainly one of, if not the most complex characters we’ve seen in the freaking Marvel universe. So, he’s deeply complex and deeply powerful, and I hope intriguing. I hope I bring that to it.“
Here’s hoping he’ll be playing Silver Surfer & that his introduction in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will usher in Galactus.
