It’s been almost a month since Den of Thieves has released in theaters. Coming with mixed reviews and comparisons to other films in the crime genre, Deadline has reported a sequel to Den of Thieves has been given the green light at STX Films.
Director Christian Gudegast is expected to return along with star Gerard Butler and producers Tucker Tooley, Mark Canton, and Alan Siegel. Also, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is also expected back along with O’Shea Jackson Jr. 50 cent will also produce through his production company G unit film and television Inc.
The premise this time follows Nick O’Brien (Butler) hunting down Donnie Wilson (O’Shea Jackson Jr) after the events of the first film through the streets of Europe. Donnie also finds himself involved in another big heist involving The European Diamond Exchange.
Den of Thieves is still in theaters and has started its international run. Currently, the film has earned $57 million worldwide, but on a $30 million dollar budget, it’s a victory for STX Entertainment.
