Jason Momoa Has Officially Been Cast as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Since Jason Momoa was cast as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) back in 2014, opinions among comic book fans have been sharply divided. Some fans embraced him wholeheartedly as Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman, reveling in his take on the iconic superhero. On the other hand, a significant portion of the fanbase believed that Momoa would be a more fitting choice for another renowned DC Comics character: Lobo. Lobo, the wildly chaotic Czarnian, is known for his irreverent charm and penchant for destruction, making him a fan favorite.

As the DCEU faced notable challenges and a clear decline in its narrative direction, Momoa began to voice his desire to take on the role of Lobo, especially with the anticipation of a reboot of the DC cinematic universe. Many fans were skeptical, accustomed to seeing him portray Aquaman and reluctant to envision him as the notorious antihero. However, the landscape of superhero cinema is ever-changing, and new opportunities can arise unexpectedly.

Today, Deadline has reported an exciting update: James Gunn has officially invited Momoa to return to the DC cinematic universe, but this time, he will don the persona of Lobo rather than Aquaman. In a thrilling turn of events, Momoa is set to make his Lobo debut in the upcoming film, “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” which is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” features a talented cast, including Milly Alcock in the role of Kara Zor-El, Eve Ridley as the formidable Ruthye Mary Knolle, and Matthias Schoenaerts portraying Krem of the Yellow, alongside Momoa’s portrayal of Lobo. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film’s screenplay is crafted by Otto Binder, Tom King, and Ana Nogueira, promising an engaging narrative filled with compelling characters and rich storytelling. As anticipation builds, fans are eager to witness this new chapter in the DC universe.
