Ben Affleck Confirms His Departure From The Batman Role

Back when it was announced that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in Warner Bros. Pictures Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, most of us lost our cool & damned the actor before be put on the cowl. After his run in the film, we grew to respect & even call him the “Best Batman” to put on the cowl. Well, that was until the Justice League film where between Zack Snyder & Joss Wheadon, the character became a joke & comedian among the more serious & grounded characters.

Talks of Affleck leaving the role shook the ground at Comic Con 2017, where he said that he was still onboard to play Batman. Even through the smile & cheering fans, it was clear to see that Affleck was just doing damage control for WB. On the Jimmy Kimmel last nght, Affleck appeared & revealed that he will indeed be stepping away from the Batman role.

Affleck said:

“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version – I couldn’t crack it. And so it was time to let someone take a shot at it. They’ve got some really good people.”

With Matt Reeves moving forward with his younger & more detective focused Batman, we can only hope that whoever puts on the cowl next can embody Affleck’s original take on Batman with a more centered spin. What do you think about Affleck leaving?
