David Corenswet Takes Flight As The New Superman In James Gunn’s ‘Superman Legacy’

Deadline shook up the internet yesterday with the announcement of the new Superman that will be taking flight on the big screen in James Gunn’s 2025 film. 

David Cornswet (Pearl, Lady in the Lake) has been officially cast as Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Superman Legacy film. Before rising to stardom in Hollywood, Cornswet was well-known for his theater performances in shows like Arden Theatre Company’s 2002 production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons and Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival’s 2003 Macbeth. His highlighted Hollywood performances include Netflix’s Hollywood and The Politician. 

Rachel Brosnahan will also be joining the film as the tough and hardworking Daily Planet reporter, Lois Lane. Brosnahan first stepped into the spotlight with David S. Goyer’s 2009 horror film The Unborn. 

Superman Legacy will release in theaters on July 11, 2025. The film will be directed and written by James Gunn.
