With Solo: A Star Wars Story being hours away from its debut in theaters around the world, The Hollywood Report has released exclusive news that James Mangold is set to write and direct a spin-off film featuring the ruthless bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Mangold directed the much praised Logan starring Hugh Jackman released in March 2017. He also directed The Wolverine. He is currently working on the film “Ford vs Ferrari” starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon. The drama follows the car company Ford attempting to beat out Ferrari as top manufacturer for race cars.
Rumors in recent years placed Josh Trank (2015’s Fantastic Four) and long time Fox “X-Men Universe” producer Simon Kinberg in the director’s chair.
No other info has been released, but count me in on this news. Boba Fett has been a long time fan favorite in the Star Wars universe. We missed out on a video game based on the character by LucasArts in 2012 with Star Wars 1313.
If we can get any semblance of “Logan” type story telling and brutal action with this project, that would certainly make fans happy…hopefully.
