The new anime adaptation Tokyo Mew Mew New, inspired by Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi’s Tokyo Mew Mew manga, will debut its second season on TV Tokyo in April 2023. The series first premiered on July 6, 2022, and began streaming on HIDIVE as the series aired in Japan. Check ou the announcement trailer below.
Takahiro Natori will serve as the director under Graphinica and Yumeta Company. Yuma Yamada will helm the script for the series, and Satoshi Ishino will be responsible for character design. Takanashi will serve as the composer for the series, and Toshiki Kameyama will direct the sound. The cast will include Momoka Ishii( Zakuro Fujiwara), Yusuke Shirai (Keiichirō Akasaka), Mirai Hinata( Mint Aizawa), Rion Toda (Pudding (Purin), Ryōko Jūni (Lettuce Midorikawa), Yūichi Nakamura (Ryō Shirogane), Yūki Tenma( Ichigo Momomiya), Yūma Uchida(Masaya Aoyama) and Kaori Ishihara( Masha).
The original Tokyo Mew Mew Magic Girl manga written by the late Ikumi and Yoshida was serialized from 2000 to 2003. The seven volumes were published in English by Tokyo Pop. The manga was then compiled into three volumes by Kodansha Comics with a new translation in 2011.
The series follows Ichigo Momomiya, a girl who transforms into Mew Ichigo with the power of the Iriomote leopard cat to save Earth from parasitic Chimera Anima aliens.
