For the past couple of weeks, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that they are chopping a number of fan-favorite shows & films, which include Batgirl & that they are remodeling their cinematic universe to focus on Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman.
With the studio cutting many shows & films, most thought that Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel was next to hit the chopping block, but you can rest assured that it is not.
Deadline revealed today that Matt Reeves is locked into a multi-year first-look film deal with Warner Bros. Discovery! The reveal also cleared up whether or not Reeves’ The Batman will get a sequel which it will. Matt Tomlin will be joining Reeves to bring the sequel to life as co-writer.
Reeves said: “Making this legendary studio my home is a dream. I am so excited to be working with Mike, Pam, and Channing and our teams to bring captivating stories I am truly passionate about to the big and small screen.”
Tomlin is not a fresh face to The Batman he contributed his writing during the third act of the film when problems came to fruition with the script. There is no word on the story or additional cast.
The Batman hit theaters on March 4, 2022, & grossed $369.3 million in the United States & Canada, & $401.5 million in other territories, which locked in at $770.8 million. The Batman is the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2022 & is also the highest-grossing serial killer movie. The Batman starred Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
