Nova Is Finally Heading to The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Deadline confirmed today that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially welcoming Nova into their fold! Even though some fans might be more familiar with the recent version of Nova, Sam Alexander, who appeared in Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man television series, Marvel will be focusing on the Richard Rider version.

Most fans started looking for Nova back in 2014 when Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hit the big screen. because we were introduced to Glen Close’s Nova Prime, who is the leader of the Nova Corps. The project will be written by Moon Knight writer Sabir Pizada. There is no word yet on whether this will be hitting the big screen or if it’ll make its home on Disney Plus.

Nova first came on the scene in 1976’s  The Man Called Nova #1, written by Marv Wolfman and was drawn by John Buscema.

The story of Nova begins when the last surviving member of the planet Xandar’s elite Nova Corps, Rhomann Dey, is dying, he selects New York high school student Richard Rider to replace him. Rider is given the uniform and powers of a Nova Centurion and fights crimes under the name Nova. Richard Rider is the host of the entire Nova Force, a vast energy source that he can apply to grant himself a number of superhuman attributes. As host to the entire Nova Force, which was previously used to empower all members of the Nova Corps throughout the universe, Rider is now possessed of tremendously augmented strength and durability as well as near-limitless quantities of energy that allow him to hold his own against other powerful foes.
