Shaman King Anime Gets Reboot

Shaman King Anime Gets Reboot

With recent reboots to beloved & classic anime series like Baki & Digimon hitting a new audience & Inusyasha geting a spin-off, it should be no surprise that Hiroyuki Takei‘s Shaman King is the next in line to get reboot of its own. It’s been revealed that the reboot will release in April 2021 & the 35 volumes of the manga series will be adapted!

This announcement has left some puzzled being that back in 2017, Takei said that he would not reboot Shaman King:

“To tell the truth, there was an offer for an anime remake that reached a realistic level… But because they were not able to use the first anime’s voice actors and soundtrack music, I had to turn down it. I hope there will be another chance.

The original Shaman King anime series aired on TV Tokyo & aired 64 episodes between July 4, 2001 & September 25, 2002. The anime follows the adventures of Yoh, a 13-year-old shaman and his teammate a samurai warrior spirit, who traverse the world fighting evil spirits and misguided shamans on their journey to be the next Shaman King.
