Sony’s Against The Wall About Moving ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Again

If there’s one film that has been tossed around like an unwanted birthday gift, it’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film was originally set to hit theaters on October 2, 2020, but was shifted to June 25, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sony then pushed the film back again to a September 17, 2021, & once more to its hopefully final release date, October 15, 2021, due to the Delta variant.

Today, Sony has its finger over the bright red “pushback button” at the studio. A studio executive told The Hollywood Reporter that “If I knew six weeks ago what I know now, I would have moved everything as far out as early next year.” A colleague of the Sony executive added that he would’ve said “no” to the chance of another major shift with the film six short weeks ago but then said that “Now, it’s a maybe.”

From the way the Delta variant is moving, fans may have to wait to catch Venom: Let There Be Carnage at home or later next year.
