Warner Bros. Pictures Brings Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña On As Their Live-Action Blue Beetle

Warner Bros. Pictures had plans for a live-action Blue Beetle under their belt for years but nothing ever came from it.  In 2020, word came out that HBO Max would be picking up Blue Beetle as a movie & that the film will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto.

The announcement came in today that Xolo Maridueña (Kobra Kai) will be playing Jessie Reyes aka Blue Beetle. This is amazing news especially since Maridueña is great on Netflix’s Kobra Kai. This will be his first major Hollywood role & we’re glad to see that they went with Jessie Reyes instead of his predecessors.

Jaime lives in El Paso, Texas with his father, mother, and little sister; his father owns a garage. Jaime offers to help his father at the garage, but his father feels Jaime should study and enjoy his childhood for as long as he can. Jaime has an acute sense of responsibility for his family and friends, though he complains about having to sort out their various problems. He derives strength and courage from his family’s support, wanting what’s best for them.

Blue Beetle will go into production early next year & will be executive produced by Zev Foreman of Warner Bros. & will be produced by HBO Max’s John Rickard.
