Amazon Studios ‘Road House’ Remake Reveals Cast

Amazon Studios announced that they are moving forward with the Road House remake. The remake will have Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead, which Patrick Swayze had in the 1989 film.

The Road House remake stars Gyllenhaal, Hannah Love Lanier, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon (Switched at Birth), Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp (Southpaw), & Bob Menery.

The new take follows a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.

Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, spoke with Deadline & said:

Road House is a homerun for us. Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie. We are thrilled to collaborate with Joel, Doug, and this great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, and for them to come together to reimagine the classic MGM film as an action-packed adventure for our global audience.

The Road House remake will be helmed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) with a script by Anthony Bagarozzi & Charles Mondry. Production is expected to begin this month in the Dominican Republic. The film will be executive produced by Aaron Auch, JJ Hook, & Alison Winter & will be produced by Joel Silver.

1989’s Road House starred Swayze as Dalton, a legendary bouncer who comes to Jasper, Missouri, for a special purpose: to restore order at the notorious Double Deuce bar. In one spectacular fight after another, Dalton rids the bar of thugs and henchmen. But when he runs afoul of a ruthless crime boss who controls the town, the stage is set for a blistering showdown that’ll leave only one man standing. The film also starred Sam Elliot, Kelly Lynch & Ben Gazzara.

No release date has been revealed for the remake.
