Michelle La Bella Bryan Cogman, the writer for HBO’s Game of Thrones, has been tapped to pen the script for the Disney Plus Zorro series. Cogman will also be the showrunner.
Disney bringing on Cogman is a great idea. He penned eleven episodes from Game of Thrones and worked on Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as a consulting producer, so we can expect the same excellence we saw from his work on the HBO series to appear in the Zorro series. Cogan is also writing the script for Disney’s live-action spin on The Sword in the Stone.
Disney’s new Zorro series will star Diego de la Vega. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, stated that the series is “set in Pueblo de Los Angeles, but told in a very modern telenovela style.“
The series has been in production since 2021. There is currently no release date set for the series.
