Amazon Studios is looking to beef up their original content by adding Conan the Barbarian to its growing roster of programming.
Deadline reports a team of heavy hitters behind bringing Conan to a new age. Names include Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the most battle and action heavy Game of Thrones episodes “Battle of the Bastards” and “Hardhome” and screenwriter Ryan Condal, who has written and co created the USA show Colony along with writing the upcoming Dwayne Johnson adventure Rampage.
Many of the stories featuring Conan had been published in magazines such as Weird Tales in the 30s along with feature films staring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 80s. Our most recent look at Conan came in 2011 with Jason Momoa in the lead role. But the film failed to click with audiences with only making 48 million dollars domestically on a 90 million dollar budget.
