Gremlins: Secret of the Mogwai Adds Zach Galligan & George Takei

During San Diego Comic Con, additional information about HBO Max’s Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai animated series. Zach Galligan, who played Billy Peltzer in the 1984 Gremlins & Gremlins 2: The New Batch, will be returning for the series along with George Takei, Sandra Oh, Randall Park, Bowen Yang, and Zach Galligan, Ming-Na Wen, James Hong, BD Wong, & Izaac Wang. 

The series will be released on HBO Max first, followed by Cartoon Network. Tze Chun will be attached to the series as executive producer & showrunner. Amblin Television will produce the series in association with Warner Bros. Animation. The show will be released next year. 

In Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, we travel back to 1920s Shanghai to reveal the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing (future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie) met the young Mogwai called Gizmo,” reads the series’ synopsis. “Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlin.
