Kanata Hongō Emerges from the Shadows as Hiei for Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’ Series

Netflix has revealed another cast member from the upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series. It’s been confirmed that Kanata Hongō (Attack on Titan movie, Fullmetal Alchemist) will star in the live-action series as Hiei, a hybrid fire & ice demon who befriends Yusuke. You can check out the official image of Hongō as Hiei below. 

Hongō will be joining Takumi Kitamura (Urameshi Yusuke) & Jun Shison (Kurama) in the series. The only main character we are missing is Kazuma Kuwabara, but we’ll most likely see his reveal tomorrow if the release pattern continues.
Kazutaka Sakamoto will executive produce the series while Sho Tsukikawa will direct it. Ryō Sakaguchi is the VFX supervisor.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. The series tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child’s life. After several tests are presented to him by Koenma, the son of the ruler of the afterlife Underworld, Yusuke is revived and appointed the title of “Underworld Detective,” with which he must investigate various cases involving demons and apparitions in the Human World.

The manga series ran from December 1990 to July 1994. The anime series ran on Fuji TV from October 1992 to December 1994.
