X-Men 97′ Gets Release Window & New Details About The Series

During a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, a few updates & a teaser trailer were revealed for Disney’s upcoming X-Men 97′ animated series.

First & foremost, the series will be released in Fall 2023! Yes, it will be a wait, but fans of the original series have been waiting for over 20 years to see the beloved characters from Fox’s X-Men: The Animated Series back on the small screen. The revival of the series was first announced back in 2021 & was confirmed to be taking place a year after the events of the 1996 ending.

X-Men 97′ will bring back the original voice actors attached to the 90’s animated series. As of right now, it’s confirmed that Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Beast, Jubilee, Gambit, & Rogue will be returning; however, Marvel didn’t mention Professor X’s return. This might be why Magneto will lead the X-Men in the new series.

Marvel also confirmed that we’ll see characters like Mr. Sinister, Callisto, Morph, White Queen, Val Cooper & Forge, some of which fans are familiar with from the Fox animated series.

Although X-Men 97′ was announced in 2021, we’ve recently been teased that mutants have already existed within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness revealing Charles Xavier aka Professor X from universe 838 & the recent reveal that Kamala Khan from the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel is a mutant, it should be no surprise that the animated series is being used to prepare newcomers for the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU down the line. Marvel also announced that season 2 of X-Men 97′ is already being worked on.
