Sean Marshall Henry Cavill is back in the middle of some fantastic news. While most fans of the DC Cinematic Universe are jumping the gun by calling out WB for removing Cavill, which has not been confirmed, it looks like Cavill is putting his cape on hold to become an immortal.
It was announced that Cavill would be joining the Lionsgate Highlander reboot! Lionsgate has been talking about rebooting Highlander for years & at one time, it was said that Ryan Reynolds was in talks to take the lead. No story details have been revealed, so we are left unclear whether Cavil will be playing Connor Macleod or not; however, it would be great to see them put a new spin on Duncan Macleod’s story & bring his character to the forefront again. The film will be directed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski helming & written by Kerry Williamson.
Highlander first hit theaters in 1986 & starred Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown, & Sean Connery. The synopsis for the 1986 film is as follows:
Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is born in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century. After reviving from a fatal wound, MacLeod is found by swordsman Ramírez (Sean Connery) who explains they and others were born immortal, invincible unless beheaded. Immortals wage a secret war, fighting each other until the last few remaining will meet at the Gathering to fight for the Prize. In 1985, the Gathering is finally happening in New York City and MacLeod must make sure the Prize is not won by his oldest enemy, the murderous Kurgan (Clancy Brown).
