Kevin Feige Touches On If ‘Eternals’ Release On Disney+ Will Happen

Hollywood & theaters seemingly have themselves against the wall due to the Delta variant of Covid-19 hitting hard. This is clear due to the shuffling going on with major films set to release this year & because of some theaters enforcing moviegoers to be vaccinated to attend certain theaters.

Disney has been in the news lately due to their falling out with Scarlet Johanson & the new deal they inked with Emma Stone to do a sequel to this year’s Cruella. Most moviegoers are not yet ready to return to the theaters due to the Delta variant running rampant & Disney originally stated that their upcoming films would only be able to be seen in theaters. We already know that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled to hit theaters only on September 3rd of this year, but we might see Disney shift their decision for Eternals.

Variety spoke with Kevin Feige at the premiere for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings & he had this to say:

“I think a theater would be my preference and [Eternals director Chloe [Zhao’s] preference. We will see where we go with it. I love the movies. I love going to the movies. I love making movies for people to see in a shared environment in a theater together. To us, that’s what it’s about. The hybrid release can also be good if you want customers to have a choice. In this case, the choice is in theaters for 45 days. Here’s what I know: there’s an opening weekend, and you can go see a movie.”

As it looks, Feige’s “We’ll see where we go with it.” leaves the door cracked for Disney/Marvel to release Eternals on their Disney+ Premier Access.
