Lady Gaga Reportedly in Talks to Play Harley Quinn In ‘Joker’ Sequel

Todd Phillips’ Joker is surprisingly getting a sequel. This was teased last week on Phillips’ Twitter with the title “Joker: Folie à deux” highlighted as the sequel’s title. Although some fans took this as a random post from Phillips, this is looking to be an official film. Also, some casting announcements seem to be in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Lady Gaga is reportedly in the works to join the cast as Harley Quinn! Yes, it looks like Joker and his gal Harley will be at the center of the sequel. However, the sequel will seemingly follow a different direction by being darker in tone than its predecessor & by being a musical. Yes, we’re looking at a musical here.

2019’s Joker was set up to be the origin story of the Clown Prince. The film starred Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron. The film was set in 1981 and followed Arthur Fleck, a failed clown and aspiring stand-up comedian whose descent into insanity and nihilism inspires a violent counter-cultural revolution against the wealthy in a decaying and destroyed Gotham City.
