Story Details Revealed For Dan Trachtenberg’s Upcoming Predator Film

In 2019, it was announced that Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys) would be helming a project that flew under the title ‘Skull’. The film will be written by Patrick Aison & produced by John Davis & John Fox, who just finished producing Disney’s Jungle Cruise. The film follows a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior; however, this was later revealed as the story for the fifth film in the Predator franchise the following year.

Davis & Fox sat down with Collider & dished out some interesting details about the next Predator film. One of the main pieces of information touched on was that the main character for the next movie will be a female & that the film will center on the Yautjas (Predators) first arrival on Earth.

When asked what this film will have in common with the 1987 film, Davis said:

“It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force.”

Fox followed-up by saying:

“It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. You’ll know what I mean once you see it. “You can use your imagination. It is… early.”

This might be the twist that this franchise needs to spring back into the hearts of longtime fans & newcomers. I’m also down to see a female lead take go up against the Predator especially since this will be taking place before modern weapons were around. What do you think about the next film being a prequel?
