The Next 007 Film Will Be A “Reinvention” Of the Character

When the last James Bond film, No Time to Die, ended, most fans of the franchise wondered how the next 007 film would approach the character or who would be jumping into the role.

Producer Barbara Broccoli spoke to Deadline & teased where the next film will go with the character. Broccoli said: “We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time.”

Some will hear “reinventing” & run away with it thinking that there’s going to be a gender or race swap of character, but it could be that we’re going to see a young James Bond becoming the hardened, cocky character we know him to be in his adulthood which I think would be a great idea as we’ve journeyed with adult Bond since 1953. There has also been a push for Idris Elba to play the next Bond, but nothing has been confirmed & no talks about Elba going up for the role have been brought to light.

Broccoli also stated that the film is “at least” two years away from filming, so we should look forward to hearing some news about the next 007 film & its cast sometime next year.
